VDS

Work is ongoing to produce a final version of the Village Design Statement. This document will have a direct influence on Stroud District Council’s future planning decisions as they affect the design, character and appearance of our village and its environs.  In this connection, a questionnaire was circulated to all residents in early March asking for their views on key issues affecting design in the village, traffic and environmental issues.  There was an excellent response with a total of 121 questionnaires completed, 105 electronically and the remaining 16 on paper.

Analysis of the questionnaire, including extracts from individual views and comments of residents, has now been completed and a copy of the response, which will be incorporated as an appendix to the final version of the document, can be found here.

The next stage is to incorporate the views of other VDS contributors on key topics such as agriculture, local employment and building design into a final document containing illustrative drawings and photographs highlighting good (and bad) design points in the text.  It is hoped that the final published version of the VDS will be available before Christmas.
