Street Lighting

October 24, 2007 on 3:44 pm | By Duncan | In Council News | 1 Comment

You may well have noticed an article in a recent Stroud News and Journal relating to an energy saving exercise by Gloucestershire Highways, whereby a number of street lights will be switched off between the hours of midnight and 5.30am.

This proposal is subject to input by the Parish Council and will be an item on the agenda for the November meeting. Anyone who would like to see the plans can do so at the meeting or they can be viewed in advance by contacting either Duncan Hayes (Tel: 873107), the Parish Clerk, or Malcolm Swait (Tel: 873254).

Free funding information event for Stroud district

October 24, 2007 on 1:40 pm | By Duncan | In Council News | No Comments

GRCC’s In Touch project is holding a series of funding information events for older people’s groups across the county, the second taking place in Stroud in November.

The In Touch project comes across many groups who may be seeking small amounts of funding up to £5,000 for equipment, trips, transport, training etc, but are confused about who to approach, how to complete forms, what the criteria might be and when to apply. This event will give the opportunity to come along, hear from and meet potential funders including the Big Lottery, County Council, District Council, Age Concern Gloucestershire/Help the Aged joint fund, Gloucestershire Association of Parish and Town Councils, the Rural Initiative Fund and others. There will also be a range of funding related stands to browse.

The Stroud event will take place at the Subscription Rooms Wednesday 21st November 2007 from 10.30am to 2pm with a buffet lunch included. Numbers are limited so call Vicki Hewlett or Barbara Piranty at GRCC to book your free place now on 01452 528491.
